:: Death Note ::

A particular scene in the Anime interested me. In order to keep a secret, he bribes someone a strawberry. I wonder...what kind of secret would one keep for a strawberry? Is the strawberry worth it? Do tell.

I struggled most on L's arm. Although it is exaggerated, the foreshortening doesn't seem the slightest bit believeable. For this and all other concerns, Criticism of the constructive, please.

If it's chocolate covered? Heck yeah ^^ Of course it would be unfair to him, because I'd be keeping both his secret and his strawberry. And I wouldn't let him have either back ^^ jklol

Yeah. I think the hand holding the strawberry could be closer to his head, and maybe the rest of him could be a little larger than it is at the moment. That might help the foreshortening a little. Also, even if it is supposed to be exaggerated, all of him from his hand to his waist seems a little too long for his oddly small legs (even though these seem elongated too.) I don't understand all the paper things everywhere; I know you must have done that for some reason or other but I can't for the life of me figure out what that reason could be; is that the secrets he wants us to keep? Why is the word "no" right near the strawberry? Is it the viewer refusing the offer? And at first I though he was reaching up with the strawberry; it took me a moment to realize he's handing the strawberry to the viewer (unless my first guess was the correct one?) I love the expression on his face; it looks so innocent, like L always did in the show whenever he wanted something from someone. ^^

Lol-I laugh moreso because that's such an odd way to think about this. ._.;;; It makes sense though. xD

You're right on with the symbolism. I needed something to put in the background, so I figured a collage of texts would work well for portraying the idea of secrets. It fits in with a theme of the series-the power of writing/words. If you have a different association with secrets, do tell. As for the petal with "no" on it, well, that really has no signifigance. I should have blurred it more, or overlapped it with something else.

He is handing the viewer a strawberry. It's hard for me to imagine this as him holding the strawberry upward. He'd have to be lieing down in order for that to work-or least for that to be convincing.

I'm glad that you note the expression on his face. I erased and redrew that mouth a good thirty times. >< His essance is hard to capture, especially since he's older than most of the character's that I draw. Although now, I don't like his eyes because they're spaced too far apart. : /

Thanks for the advice. : D

I have odd thoughts about many things ^^ otherwise I wouldn't be insane enough to make almost every one of my deviations be on MS Paint would I? xD

I tend to associate secrets with whispering in someone's ear. Or pieces of paper. Either works ^^ I suppose pieces of paper work better because it would be rather ridiculous to have him be surrounded by a bunch of ears >.>;;;;;;

L's expression is adorable ^^ I always love when he gets that innocent look on his face XD even though we know he's acting but it's still fun when he does that.

You're welcome ^^

I don't think it would be ridiculous if he surrounded by a bunch of ears, if the reasoning sufficed. Ears are also associated with the mere sense of hearing, so it would make it harder to convey the "secret" part (what is he actually hearing). But then again, words aren't much better. : (

If you want the strawberry, you have to keep L's secret-which I don't remember.
